Fun travel activities older travelers will enjoy
Fun travel activities older travelers will enjoy : Most of the fun things that travel websites suggest don’t take an important group of people into account. Travellers over 50 can also have fun and excitement, and Kenya is no different. The events might not be the same as the usual fast-paced and violent ones. Here are some ideas I came up with for things our older people can do.
Safari Drives.
If you go to Kenya, you almost have to go on a game drive safari. The beautiful “Big Five” animals live in Kenya, along with many other animals, birds, and plants. Luckily, game drives don’t make people too tired because they just sit in their cars all day. The experience is still very exciting, and you won’t get tired from it. Also, most safari drives come with packages that include a place to stay, food, and fun things to do at night, like game nights.
Cultural Visits.
Going on a culture visit is another way for older travelers to enjoy Kenya without getting too tired. The goal of cultural events in Kenya is to show off the 44 different tribes’ practices and customs. These kinds of cultural events are available on their own in some places, but they are also mixed in with other things. One of the few places in Nairobi where being cultural is the main event is the Bomas of Kenya. You could also book a stay at a luxury camp or retreat with a culture theme, like those in Laikipia. They take tourists on guided tours of traditional Kenyan houses where they can see how people live in Kenya in the present day.
Visiting Animal Orphanages and Sanctuaries.
There are other ways to see wildlife in Kenya besides going on a game drive. You can visit animal shelters and homes instead. They’re good because you can get close to the animals. You can also go at your own pace and enjoy the vibes around you. Kenya has a number of these kinds of places that older tourists can go. Some of them include the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Giraffe Manor, Mamba Village, and Ostrich farm, Haller Park, Sweet Waters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Animal Orphanage.
Beach Retreat.
After seeing the Kenyan interior, you can spend the weekend on the Kenyan Coast, where you can swim, sunbathe and enjoy coastal life. You can go to any of the beach places to explore them, like Mombasa, Lamu, or Kilifi. On the coast of Kenya, you can enjoy peaceful days in the sun and fun nights. The old town of Lamu, Fort Jesus, the Shimoni Caves, and the Marine Park are all tourist spots that you can see while you’re there. Go to Mida Creek to enjoy a little piece of beauty on the Kenyan Coast.
Museum Visits.
Kenya has a lot of museums all over the country. These museums are especially appealing to older tourists who are interested in history. All of them hold important pieces of Kenyan history, from ancient weapons to cultural items found after the British era. Some tell stories about the lions in Tsavo that eat people and the large collection of musical instruments from all over Kenya. Some people tell stories about brave Kenyans like Mekatilili wa Menza, who fought the British soldiers in Giriama land. Some museums, like the Karen Blixen Museum and Lord Egerton Castle, tell unique stories about the people who lived or owned the buildings before. No matter which one you choose, you will learn a lot about Kenyan past without putting in a lot of effort.
Sampling Local Delicacies.
Eating Kenyan food is a big part of having a good time in Kenya. You don’t have to go out into the hot sun to explore. You can stay inside and try some Kenyan food. You can choose from a huge list of things. If you like meat, you should go to Nyama Mama or Carnivore. You can eat different kinds of meat that are cooked in different ways to your liking. From grilled to fried with water. From chicken to beef to pork and more. You can ask for Ugali, rice, chapati, tea, or porridge at any of the many places in the area if you like traditional food. Don’t forget to try Kenyan fish if you are near a lake or the ocean it will make your safari the most intriguing one.
