7 days Uganda primate safari

This 7 days Uganda primates safari is a Uganda safari tour that enables you to explore Uganda. During the safari, you will enjoy the open Savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth, game drives and cruises to the deep jungles of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a home to over 400 mountain gorillas, as well as an opportunity to visit the elusive Kibale Chimp Forest.

Day 1:  Arrival and city tour.

On the 1st day of your safari, upon arrival at the Entebbe Airport, our driver guide will pick you up and brief you about the safari. After a short brief session, take you for Kampala City Tour where you will visit places in the city.

Later after the city tour, you will check in your lodge, relax as your waiting for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Drive to Kibale National Park.

ON the 2nd day of your safari, wake up early in the morning and you will be served with breakfast at the lodge, After meet your driver guide who will drive you to Kibale National Park.

On your way to Kibale, you will have stop overs and enroute lunch in fort portal. Upon arrival in the park, you will check in your lodge, relax as you are preparing for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale forest.

On the 3rd day of your 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari, wake up early morning and be served with breakfast at the lodge. After meet your guide take you to Kanyanchu at the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing.

After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide and start trekking in the forest in search of chimpanzees which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one area to another in search of food.

During trekking you will spot other primates such as L’Hoest’s monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey among others.

Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the forest.  After the one-hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will get your trekking certificate and also meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will go for a guide nature walk in Bigodi sanctuary where you will be able to view variety of bird species like the great blue turaco, black crowned waxbill, black bishop, grey winged robin-chat, yellow billed barbet, view mammals like otters, bush pigs, sitatungas, bushbucks, several primates like blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, l’ hoest monkeys among others. After the nature walk you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth NP and Afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

On the 4th day, wake up early in the morning, you will be served with breakfast and checkout of your, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will drive straight to the park and take a game drive.

Upon arrival to the park, you will visit the Kasenyi plains which are excellent for sighting lion and large herds of Uganda Kobs. The Mweya peninsula is one of the best places to look for leopard, which live in the dense, scrubby thickets.

In the afternoon take a cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which flows between Lakes Edward and George. Kazinga is home to one of the highest concentrations of hippopotamus in Africa and herds of elephant, buffalo, and other animals come to drink at the water’s edge at Kazinga during the dry season. This channel is a haven for water birds, with great flocks of pelicans and other birds on the shore, as well as a great place to see African fish eagles flying around.

After check in your lodge, relax at the lodge and stay overnight.

Day 5:  Drive to Bwindi National Park

After breakfast, you will depart the lodge and head for Bwindi Forest. You will have stop overs on the way with enroute lunch.  Proceed with a drive in the countryside that will lead us to the home of the mountain gorillas.

Upon arrival at the park, check into your lodge, relax, and prepare for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking

Wake up early in the morning, you will be served with breakfast and also carry packed lunch and meet up with your guide who will take you to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing.

After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and also conversant with different gorilla trekking trails which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, different bird species, plants among others and once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their behaviours. After the one-hour of encountering with the gentle giants, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Departure

This is the last day of your safari where you will have a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and then meet up with your guide to take you back to Kampala.

On the way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara town and then continue the journey with a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe where you will take photos and buy souvenirs.

From the Equator you will proceed to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport.
